Start Smiling, Speaking, and Chewing With Absolute Confidence!
Dental implants are prosthetic tooth roots that provide the ultimate support for replacement teeth while preventing the jaw atrophy that occurs following tooth loss. Dr. Wilner Loiseau in Richardson, TX, can place dental implants. We can also provide your custom restoration. Under our care, every step of your smile rehabilitation is planned and overseen by one practice, with no need for referrals.

Why Choose Dental Implants?
Unlike traditional restorations, implant-supported restorations allow you to chew any foods you wish, and to speak with complete clarity. While traditional dentures remain prone to slip, implant dentures can restore virtually the same level of function that natural teeth provide. Meanwhile, implants provide other extraordinary benefits.
When you lose teeth, your jawbone will begin to shrink and change shape. Dental implants are the one and only restorative treatment that can halt and prevent these changes. Implants become permanently fused to the jaw in a process called osseointegration. While your restorations will eventually need replacement due to normal wear and tear, your dental implants can last a lifetime with proper care and good hygiene.
Dental implants can help you escape the discomfort and frustration of traditional restorations and start smiling, speaking, and chewing with absolute confidence.

Are Implants Right for Me?
Before recommending dental implants, we will review your medical history and oral health. We will also assess the health of your jaw using digital x-rays. Based on this information, we can determine whether you are healthy enough to undergo surgery.
In general, the best dental implant candidates are those who are missing teeth, yet have enough bone tissue in the jaw to support the implants. If you have worn a traditional denture or bridge for a long period, or if you have delayed addressing missing teeth altogether, you have likely experienced some degree of atrophy. In some cases, patients require a bone grafting procedure to restore implant candidacy. Dr. Loiseau can provide this treatment as necessary.
Smoking and uncontrolled diabetes can also compromise candidacy for dental implants. However, by quitting smoking or working with your general practitioner to control diabetes, you can become a candidate for implants.
Placing Dental Implants
To plan your treatment and place the implants, we will assess your jaw using digital X-rays.
On the day of your surgery, we will administer sedation and local anesthesia for your comfort. Dr. Loiseau will insert the implants into the jaw through incisions in your gums. Your implants will fuse with your jawbone over the next four to six months.
During a second procedure, the gums will be incised once more. Special devices called abutments will be attached to the implants to serve as connections to your dentures, bridge, or crown. Next, the gums will be sutured closed, leaving the abutments accessible above the gumline.
Once the gums have healed (typically after about two weeks), we can begin crafting your permanent dentures, bridges, or crowns.

Why Our Office Excels at Implant Treatment

Let’s Talk About the Procedure
Before beginning the procedure, Dr. Thomas will perform a full oral assessment to ensure that the procedure is the best option for you. If you are a candidate, he will choose a shade of composite resin that closely matches your natural enamel. To begin the treatment, he will prepare the affected tooth by applying a dental etch material. This slightly acidic solution will roughen the tooth surface allowing the composite resin to adhere more easily.
Almost anyone who is concerned about the appearance of their smile can qualify!
Next, the composite resin is applied. Dr. Thomas will mold and shape the material to achieve the desired size, shape, and appearance. A special curing light is then used to harden the resin. Finally, Dr. Thomas checks your bite, polishes the tooth, and makes any necessary adjustments. Once this process is complete, you can leave our office with a brand new smile. With proper care and maintenance, this procedure can last up to 10 years.

Why are dental implants a great option for replacing missing teeth?
Dental implants provide a strong foundation for replacing lost or missing teeth. An implant acts as a tooth root, meaning it can be placed in your jawbone and provides a place for a replacement tooth to attach to. There is also no need to use a removable denture since an implant can be used as an anchor for a permanent bridge or denture.
How long does it take to receive dental implants?
Depending on the number of implants you need, it can take anywhere from two months to one year. The healing process takes anywhere from three months to several years depending on the location and health of your jawbone.
What happens during the treatment process?
Your dentist will first remove any remaining tissue and gum tissue in preparation for placing the implant. Next, the implants are inserted and the bone is allowed to heal around them. During the healing phase, you may feel discomfort and may have a toothache. As your bone grows over the implants, the implants will become stronger, stronger, and stronger, and the pain will subside. After the healing period is complete, your permanent bridge or denture will be attached to the implants. You may need additional treatments after the initial procedure.
Do dental implants last forever?
Yes. Your implants will remain in your jaw indefinitely.
How long does dental implant treatment take?
Dental implant treatments range from a couple of hours to a few weeks. Most patients choose to have the procedure performed by an oral surgeon.
