fastbraces® Vs Invisalign
We provide a wide range of general, cosmetic and restorative dental care services to patients of all ages
Choosing Between FastBraces and Invisalign
If you have crooked teeth, the right orthodontic treatment for you depends on a range of factors.
Both FastBraces® and Invisalign® will move your teeth into the proper position.
However, they both offer unique advantages and disadvantages that you must consider before choosing.
Dr. Pramod Thomas can discuss your options with you during a free FastBraces consultation at our Richardson, TX, office and recommend the optimal treatment for your unique needs.
Knowing the basics of each procedure can help you make an informed decision about how to proceed.
What Are FastBraces?
FastBraces use uniquely shaped brackets, along with traditional wires, to move both the roots and the crowns of your teeth.
The triangular braces allow for greater control over tooth movements, making FastBraces a more efficient orthodontic method.
Dr. Thomas offers both the Classic™ and Turbo™ Series of FastBraces.
For qualifying patients, the Turbo series offers an even faster way of achieving a straighter smile.
What Is Invisalign?
Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign uses clear aligners made out of a smooth plastic material.
The aligners fit over the tops of your teeth and are removable for added convenience.
Every few weeks, you replace one set of aligners for the next in the series, gradually guiding your teeth into place.
Understanding the Differences
Beyond their basic structure, Invisalign and FastBraces have a few distinct differences which may influence your decision.
Speed of Treatment
As their name suggests, FastBraces are a fast way to straighten your teeth.
Some patients complete their treatment in as little as three months.
In contrast, Invisalign typically takes about a year.
Severity of Misalignment
Generally, Invisalign is recommended for mild to moderate misalignments.
It is not always an effective option for more complex or severe issues, especially when the jaw is also misaligned.
In contrast, FastBraces can provide efficient results even for moderate to severe misalignment.
Dr. Thomas offers free consultations for patients interested in pursuing treatment with FastBraces.
Appearance
Since FastBraces still use brackets and wires, they are not as discreet as Invisalign.
The clear aligners are virtually invisible, which is why many adults opt for Invisalign over metal braces.
Comfort
FastBraces are uniquely shaped to more effectively move teeth with less discomfort than traditional braces.
However, they can still cause irritation inside of your mouth.
The smooth surface of Invisalign does not pose this concern.
Making the Right Decision for You
There are a lot of factors to consider before choosing an orthodontic option. Some questions you may want to ask yourself include:
-
- How quickly do you want to finish treatment?
- How active are you?
- Are you concerned about metal brackets during athletic activities?
- How severe is your misalignment?
- Do you suffer from jaw pain that may need addressing?
The best way to find out if FastBraces or Invisalign is a better option for you is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Thomas.
He can discuss your concerns with you and examine your smile to determine the best way to proceed.
